Geek Girls and Fanboyz

Kate Kotler – Founding Editor
Kate is a freelance writer/editor/marketing hack and full time geek girl who lives in Chicago with her adorable dog, Max Tango. She currently writes the column “Geek Girl on the Street Reports” for the UK website, Bleeding Cool and is in the process of publishing a graphic novel series for young readers. Kate loves her family, the Chicago Cubs, Doctor Who, Frank Miller, Wonder Woman, knitting, sushi, puppetry and she used to be a professional fire eater. Kate’s Stuff: Adorkable Grrl | @adorkablegrrl

Candice Dayoan – Art Director
Candice describes herself as a “geek of all trades” – part artist, part techie. After graduating from the University of Hawai’i she worked on the second season of Lost and had her artwork featured on Dante’s Cove. Candice enjoyed two and a half years working with hot user generated review website Yelp before she combined her passion for politics with her geekiness, working as the Deputy New Media Director and then Regional Field Director for Organizing for America – California. She is currently the New Media Director for David Chiu for Mayor (SF). She might be the only person that has the same exact reaction to being in the same room as President Obama and George Lucas. Candice’s Stuff: @candicecd | Candice’s Art Portfolio

Sarah Elliott – UK Editor
Sarah’s spent half her life obsessed with all things Whedon and has been writing, doodling, geeking out and generally confusing folk for even longer.  Sarah’s Stuff: SarahXxXLouise | @SarahXxXLouise

Rason Sampson – Site photographer
Honorary Geek Girl, and self styled ‘Pure Gamer’ Ray spends his time helping run Bay Area gaming convention Kublacon when not taking pictures for us.  Ray’s Stuff: Trust the Fedora | @trustyfedora

Sean Campbell – Contributing Writer
Sean’s a connoisseur of gaming, movies, sleazy rock n’ roll and hockey. He’s also an occasional scribe, full-time geek and dabbles in freelance photography.  Sean’s Stuff: @grifta67

Liz Demi Green – Contributing Writer
Liz Demi Green is a writer, performer, and educator in the Bay Area.  A long-time sci-fi/fantasy fan (back to when she wrote a thirty three page story about a girl with telekinesis at the age of eight), Liz is writing a YA sci-fi novel involving time travel, the apocalypse and the adventures of two girls in love.   Liz plays trumpet with the Brass Liberation Orchestra and performs her poetry at local readings.  Liz’s Stuff: lizdemigreen.com

Britt Deal – Contributing Writer
Britt’s love for Spider-Man has been nurtured since she was 7. Since then, her love has grown to include Star Trek:TNG, Battlestar Galactica, anime, dinosaurs & beer. She leads a simple, unassumingly geeky life in San Francisco, where geeks run free. Britt’s Stuff: @_brittastick | brittdeal.com

Mark Pantoja – Serial Fiction Contributor
Mark is a musician and Science Fiction writer living in San Francisco, who masquerades as an environmental consultant. He likes whiskey. Mark’s Stuff: Mist Giant | Other Possibilities

Asta Charles — Contributing Writer
Asta is an online marketing director by day and writer, wife, and snarky whiner by night. Her horny, self-deprecating, and awkwardly humorous coming of age story documented at astacharles.blogspot.com. Featured on the cover of Open.Salon.com multiple times, Asta now enjoys writing about politics, jerks, and economics. She spends her time hanging out with her husband, and searching Google images for photos of dogs that she wants but can’t have.

Ethan Kaye
Ethan writes all the time about all kinds of stuff. He’s a regular contributor for ToplessRobot.com and has written for Wizard Magazine, ToyFare Magazine, Wizardworld.com, UGO.com, Marvel.com, Co-Optimus.com, Filmcatcher.com, as well as a bunch of other places he forgets because his memory is not very good. He’s written ad campaigns for several drugs on the market, but hopefully none you’ve heard of because the diseases they treat are pretty awful. He collects comics and comic art, especially pieces with his favorite character, the Mad Hatter. Ethan lives in New York City with his cat named Science. Ethan’s stuff: facebook.com/ethankaye | @ethankaye

Erika Jelinek — Contributing Writer
An aspiring youth services librarian by day, Erika spends her evenings perfecting the “nopantsio” spell, writing about teenage werewolves, and dreaming about being the Slayer. After spending her tender, formative years in Maryland and having raucous adventures around the world, she eventually magyked herself to drizzly Vancouver. She loves rock and roll, collects fantasy and sci-fi-inspired tattoos, voraciously consumes YA literature and beer, and still believes in unicorns. Erika’s stuff: @bonzaibigfoot

Hey there! I could not find any form to contact you ladies, so I’m using this comment box:

I think it would be interesting to have a link on people’s name that would take you to their posts, similar to what we have on the front page – if I click in ‘adorkablegrrl’ link, I will see only her posts.

    Cheers!

I feel like there used to be something on this site about interning or contributing…where did that link go? Is this no longer an option?

    • adorkablegrrl says:

Hey Bretta – it is ABSOLUTELY an option. If you’d like to pitch an article or discuss intern opportunities, you can go ahead and email us at geekgirlonthestreet AT gmail DOT com.
