A quick post: In addition to running this site and FilmCatcher.com, I also write for the ChicagoNow blog network. Today I was alerted to a post about a first grader in Evanston, Il. (who is the daughter of another ChicagoNow blogger) who has been taunted and bullied by boys in her class for carrying a Star Wars waterbottle. You can read the OP (which is getting a lot of traffic) on ChicagoNow: Anti-Bullying Starts in the First Grade
I’ve personally reached out to her Mom to offer to take her as my guest to C2E2 this spring, but in the meantime I’d like to call to arms all the awesome geek girls I know — let’s try to counteract the bullying and reinforce for Katie that Star Wars (and all else geek) is INDEED FOR GIRLS through awesome displays of Geek Girl Love, okay?
Katie’s mom is overwhelmed with response from this article, so it might be a bit before she responds, but let’s pass this around and get some ideas of how we can blow Katie’s mind with Geek Girl Awesome started, eh?

The wave of support for Katie has been amazing to see.
Mad love for Katie, and even madder love for the outpour of support for her. It was pretty awesome.
