By the time that all y’all read this GGotS photog Doc Simian and I will be almost all the way to San Diego for SDCCI Preview Night and Eden will be packing her suitcases, getting ready to wing her way to the coast.
That’s right she-geeks, fanboys and other interested parties: July 21-25 marks the 41st Annual International Comic Con in San Diego, CA.
In honor of this geeky-mecca weekend, this week’s Geek List is dedicated to all things Comic Con… (And, don’t forget you can follow our live coverage via Twitter by following @GeekGirlotStree !!)
- Got a burning question you’d like to ask geek-girl Mythbuster, Kari Byron or Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood author Charlaine Harris? We’ll be interviewing both these fabulously geeky women over Comic Con weekend – Tweet your questions to us and we’ll make sure they are on our list! (And, keep your eyes peeled to GGotS this weekend for those exciting interviews!)
- The Comic Con Survival List (via the LA Times) is a great how-to get the most out of your geeky weekend in San Diego. Salient tips include wear comfy shoes, bring water/snacks, make sure to have a sketchbook/sharpie on hand for autographs, make sure to charge your gadgets and know that the celebs will be as excited to see you as you will be to see them…
- Didya know there’s a ton of stuff going on off-site during the con weekend? Celebrate the Web, W00tstock 2.4, the io9 Meetup, From Dusk ’till Con and the Geek Girls & Friends SDCC Tweet-up are among the cool events going on in the Gas Lamp District of SD this weekend to supplement the con. We’re excited to check out as many as we possibly can!!
- This is the Year of the Geek Grrl at SDCCI. Our friend (and Ink Stained Amazons author) Jennifer Stuller put together a great post on her blog that summarizes all the opportunties for geek girls to be loud and proud in San Diego this weekend.
- Speaking of Jennifer Stuller… I’ll be interviewing this fiesty femme comic scholar for our geek grrl-friends in the UK, Girly Geekdom.
- And, speaking of Girly Geekdom… the lovely Sarah Blow send me two very rare, limited edition London Girl Geek Dinner t-shirts to take with me to SDCCI. I’ll be sporting one of them on Thursday on the con floor. And, the second one I’ll be taking around with me all weekend and having creators, artists and celebs I encouter sign it.
