I actually really liked the Resident Evil movies and Planet Terror.
Is it just me or are there almost no (non-anime) Zombie cartoons?
Shaun of the Dead & Zombieland are great zombie movies because not only do they manage to balance the gore with enough humor to tell a story that is more than the cliché characters running from dark room to dented pickup truck. They are great zombie movies because they are good movies first, and zombie movies second.
OH MY GOD! I TOTALLY AGREE!!!! I LOVED THAT MOVIE!
My favorite scene was when they were in the back yard trying to decide which records to throw at the zombie. That scene has stuck in my mind for years and gets funnier every time I remember it…
I love the record scene, too…
“Sade”
“That’s Liz’s”
“Throw it!”
Oh man I just chuckled remembering that scene. I totally forgot about that!
I particularly liked Zombieland because I like road trip movies, and it felt more like a road trip movie in a weird world.
Sort of like Wristcutters: A Love Story
I cannot believe that only TWO PEOPLE have voted for Army of Darkness… AND YOU CALL YOURSELVES GEEKS???
For shame!
I have never really understood why Ash is such a Geek Hero. He’s not a geek. He’s not even particularly bright and he is kind of an ass to everyone.
I will not argue that Bruce Campbell played him exceedingly well as he does with all of his roles. Brisco County Jr was beyond awesome.
What are you TALKING about? Ash is the total geek hero – he carries a copy of Applied Chemistry in the trunk of his car! He made a functional animatronic chainsaw hand!
You heathen!!!!!!!
OK OK, I’ll watch it again. I guess the few times I have seen it I missed that part. Still, Shaun of the Dead is a better zombie movie.
I agree — it has fighting skeletons! And everyone knows fighting skeletons are a mark of a great movie! And it is infinitely quotable.
I don’t even like zombie movies and I like this movie.
I don’t know if I ever truly thought of Army of Darkness as a “Zombie” movie….but I guess it is!
